Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026 at GVA
At GVA, we are proud to support the next generation of talent. National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect opportunity to highlight the dedication, progress, and achievements of our apprentices, who are growing their skills and making a real impact across the business.
Welcome to Ben Helliwell
We are also delighted to support Ben Helliwell, who has recently started his apprenticeship journey with GVA. Supporting new talent remains central to our approach, and we look forward to seeing Ben develop alongside our existing apprentices.
Investing in the Future
We remain committed to creating opportunities for career progression and skills development across the business. Plans are in place to enrol more team members onto Level 2 apprenticeships this September, continuing the success of our apprenticeship programme and strengthening our future workforce.
Rosie Ransley – Apprentice Accounts Assistant
Rosie is nearing completion of her AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting at Calderdale College. Having successfully passed her first three assessments, she is preparing for her final one before progressing to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. Her commitment and enthusiasm continue to strengthen our finance team while laying the foundation for a successful career in the industry.
Arborist Apprentices – Otto, Will & Jack
Otto, Will and Jack continue to make strong progress through their Level 2 Arborist apprenticeships and are now approaching the end of their practical learning period as they begin preparing for their End Point Assessments.
Throughout their programmes, they have completed taught sessions in Health and Safety, Tree Identification, Plant Science and Soil Science, alongside a range of additional knowledge units. They have also gained valuable industry qualifications, including First Aid, Chipper Operations and Ground-Based Chainsaw (CS30/31), with Tree Climbing (CS38) scheduled for April.
- Otto is currently at 40% progress against a target of 36% and has completed all outstanding tasks, with only final evidence to upload. He continues to show positive development in both professional behaviours and confidence in the classroom and workplace.
- Will is significantly exceeding expectations, currently at 72% progress against a target of 34%. He demonstrates strong initiative, including undertaking additional qualifications such as a Professional Tree Inspector course to further his development within arboriculture.
- Jack is also performing strongly at 43% progress against a target of 36%. He shows consistent commitment to both theoretical and practical learning, maintaining an organised and enthusiastic approach to his development within the industry.
Their progress reflects both their dedication and the value of combining structured learning with real-world experience in the workplace.
Supporting Success Through Partnership
The success of our apprentices is also supported by strong collaboration with training providers.

Training and Development Beyond the Apprenticeship
At GVA, learning extends beyond formal apprenticeship programmes. Our people benefit from additional development through GVA’s in-house training team at the GVA Training Centre, ensuring they build the knowledge, confidence and safety awareness needed to thrive in their roles.
This holistic approach helps apprentices grow into well-rounded, capable and safety-conscious professionals.
