Cable Avoidance Training

Our LANTRA-accredited Cable Avoidance training course provides essential, practical instruction for anyone involved in groundworks, excavation, or Street Works projects where underground services may be present.

Becoming proficient in the use of cable avoidance equipment is a vital operator skill. This course enhances your knowledge, understanding, and practical ability to safely locate and avoid underground utilities apparatus and highway services, helping to reduce the risk of serious injury, service disruption, and environmental damage.

This is a bespoke course, tailored by the instructor to suit your experience level, work environment, and operational requirements. Approved by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Highway Electrical Association (HEA), the course combines essential theory with hands-on practical training using pipe and cable location equipment.

Learners will develop an understanding of underground infrastructure, how to interpret plans and drawings, and how to operate location equipment safely and effectively. On successful completion, learners receive a Certificate of Competence, providing recognised proof of training and compliance.

Training is suitable for anyone required to undertake the location and avoidance of underground apparatus and services. Courses are delivered at our GVA Training Centre in Halifax or on-site, with flexible delivery to meet project and organisational needs.
