All Terrain Vehicle Training
Sit-Astride
Our LANTRA-accredited Sit-Astride All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) training course provides intensive, practical instruction for those required to operate sit-astride ATVs as part of their work. The course is suitable for both novice riders and experienced operators who need to refresh their skills or gain recognised certification.
Sit-astride ATVs are highly versatile machines, commonly used across agriculture, forestry, and other land-based industries, often with attachments such as trailers, sprayers, and spreaders. While their flexibility makes them invaluable, it also increases the potential for serious accidents without proper training. This course focuses on building safe riding habits, hazard awareness, and legal compliance from the outset.
Training is delivered by experienced instructors and takes place on our purpose-built ATV training track, allowing learners to develop confidence in a controlled environment that replicates real working conditions. The course combines essential theory with extensive hands-on riding, covering manoeuvring skills, route planning, and understanding vehicle capabilities before progressing to practical sessions across a range of challenging terrain.
Courses can be delivered as a one-day programme for experienced operators or a two-day course for those with little or no prior experience, with additional time available for complete novices if required. Assessed certification options are available, including riding on rough terrain, loading and towing, carrying loads, and preparing ATVs for transport.
Successful learners receive a LANTRA Certificate of Competence. Training is delivered at our GVA Training Centre in Halifax, with flexible delivery options available to meet organisational requirements.
