Remote control mowers offer efficient and flexible solutions for a variety of mowing tasks, but like all powered equipment, they require proper training to be used safely and effectively. This practical one-day course provides essential knowledge on safe operation, risk assessment, and routine maintenance to help you get the best from your machine while keeping yourself and others safe.
Our experienced instructors will guide you through machine controls, radio-control systems, hydrostatic drives, and cutting mechanisms. The course also includes instruction on manoeuvring, transportation, and battery-operated machines, ensuring comprehensive understanding of the equipment.
Successful completion awards a LANTRA Certificate of Competence, recognising your verified skills and compliance with relevant safety standards.
Training is delivered at our GVA Training Centre in Halifax, with flexible on-site options available for businesses and organisations.
What will be covered?

- Comply with legal requirements, with an emphasis of safe practices
- Identify the risks associated with the use of this type of machine
- Select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Identify the controls and components
- Understand the function of all instruments (if appropriate)
- Carry out daily checks, as indicated in the operator’s manual
- Carry out appropriate pre-start checks
- Identify and report any faults
- Adjust the cutting mechanism to achieve the required standard
- Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner
- Perform after-use maintenance
- Load and transport the machine (if appropriate)
