Basic Tree Survey & Inspection
Develop essential tree inspection skills with our LANTRA-accredited Basic Tree Survey and Inspection course at GVA Training. This one-day programme is designed to help learners recognise potential tree hazards and understand when specialist intervention is required.
Identifying hazardous trees is a key responsibility for many roles, including park rangers, estate workers, grounds maintenance teams and land managers. Early identification and accurate reporting can significantly reduce risk to the public, property and infrastructure.
Designed as a practical foundation, this course focuses on recognising potential hazards, understanding legal responsibilities and applying safe inspection practices. It is intended for individuals conducting basic tree checks, not full technical arboricultural surveys.
Delivered by an experienced instructor, the training combines classroom-based theory with practical outdoor exercises. Learners will explore relevant health and safety legislation, risk assessment processes and the limits of their responsibility when conducting basic tree surveys.
During the practical element, you will assess a range of trees and practise identifying potential hazards in real-world scenarios.
