GVA Celebrates Success at the SDF Northwest Community Health, Safety & Well-being Awards
GVA was proud to attend this year’s SDF Northwest Community Health, Safety & Well-being Awards—an inspiring evening dedicated to recognising the people and initiatives shaping a safer, healthier and more supportive culture across the region’s highways and infrastructure community.
The event celebrates the outstanding dedication, innovation and commitment demonstrated by individuals and teams across the regional supply chain. More than just an awards ceremony, it brings together operatives, support staff and leaders who go above and beyond to embed care, safety and wellbeing into everything they do, while sharing best practice and strengthening partnerships across the North West.
Individual recognition and achievements
GVA colleagues were well represented among this year’s nominees and award recipients.
Will was shortlisted for Individual Well-being Champion in recognition of his remarkable achievement of completing four laps of the Three Peaks challenge. Reflecting on the evening, he said:
“Fantastic event, really well organised and delighted to be nominated. Well done to all nominated and those who won awards.”
Alan was shortlisted for Individual Health & Safety Champion and received a ‘Highly Commended’ commendation for his commitment and contribution.
“It was nice to be shortlisted and be recognised for our hard work and dedication from the North West National Highways community. It was a brilliant evening and wonderful to catch up with everyone.”
Nick was shortlisted for Intervention Of The Year after helping two young children reunite with their family after being split up on a family bike ride.
Campaign success for GVA
GVA also celebrated major success on the night, winning Well-being Campaign of the Year for Walk the Roses—the second consecutive year the campaign has received the award.
Luke reflected on the achievement and atmosphere of the evening:
“Thanks for a memorable evening. It was amazing to be back this year, hearing about the fantastic effort everyone on the SDF Northwest has done over the last 12 months and even more honoured to be presented with Well-being Campaign of the Year.”
He added:
“A great night spent with colleagues and friends in the industry, celebrating health, safety and well-being in the North West community. Winning the Wellness Campaign of the Year for a second year in a row topped the night off. Congratulations to all the other winners and nominees.”
A memorable evening for the community
The event began with arrival drinks in the foyer, sponsored by Multi-pave, setting a welcoming tone for the evening’s celebrations.
Highlights included an inspiring speech from Andy’s Man Club, reinforcing the importance of mental health awareness across the industry. The ceremony itself was hosted by former television presenter Andy Crane, who stepped away from the famous Broom Cupboard to guide the evening’s proceedings, while the awards were presented by Gary Knowles.
The awards continue to be a community-led celebration—funded and organised by the region, for the region—spotlighting everyday heroes who are driving real change across projects and workplaces.
Building a safer, healthier future
The SDF Northwest Community Health, Safety & Well-being Awards remain an important moment in the calendar, recognising the collective efforts of those committed to improving standards and supporting one another across the sector.
For GVA, the evening was not only a celebration of success but also a reminder of the impact collaboration, dedication and wellbeing-focused initiatives can have across the wider community.
